FAQs

What to expect at your appointment?

Women in Underwear

What should I wear?

Nude or white underwear is best.  If you have a strapless bra, you may wish to wear it.

No thongs, please!  Your bottom may be in my face at some point!

You won't need your shoes as we have a fittings podium to give the correct height.

Model with smokey eyes

What about fake tan/make up/hair dos?

Please leave the fake tan, full make up and heavily scented body lotions and perfumes for another day!

Trying on dresses is hard work, and we want our gowns to stay fresh for other Brides, too!

To keep your trying-on fun, we will ask you to step into most gowns.  It's far easier that way!

Wedding Dress Shopping

How many people can come?
Can I bring children?

Fire Regulations permit a total of 3 guests plus the Bride.  Prams can be left in Reception.

You could invite others to your Collection appointment - you can try your gown on and select your accessories if you haven't already.

It's all about you, please leave small children with a sitter and enjoy some time where you're the centre of attention for a change!

Bride and Groom

Are you a mobility-friendly boutique?

Yes, we are!  Ali's nephew is a wheelchair user, so we know how vital it is to make sure that everyone can enjoy the Blue & Sixpence Experience!

We're fully accessible with  disabled parking, suitable toilets and level access.

Blue & Sixpence is designed for easy movement around the boutique and changing room.

When should I book?  What about alterations?

Organised Orla? Last-Minute Lucy? We can help you find your gown!

Ideally, you should shop for your gown once you have confirmed your date & venue.

Around 18-12 months before your big day is perfect, where possible.

Remember that most gowns will need some tailoring and you should allow time for this.
